Matt is the Director of Bands at
Jefferson Charter Academy in Hanford, where he is in charge of Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, Mariachi, and 4th grade recorders. Prior to that, he was at Fresno High School, where he was in charge of the Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, Color/Winterguard, and Concert Percussion ensembles, as well as numerous small ensembles.
Matthew completed his B.A in Music Education from CSU, Fresno in 2009, studying horn with Tom Hiebert, Jennie Bloomster, James Winter, and David Krehbiel. He is currently completing his Master's in Conducting, studying under Dr. Erik Leung, at Fresno Pacific University.
Matt has been teaching marching bands in the Central Valley as a marching instructor prior to his position at Fresno High, teaching at Bullard, Kingsburg, Hoover, Selma, and Buchanan High Schools.
From 1999-2002 Matt marched with the Blue Devils "B" and Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps, being Horn Sargent and Section Leader in both corps.
Matt joined the Blue Devils "B" staff in 2010, primarily working with the hornline.
Matt's professional affiliations include NAfME, California Band Directors Assoc., California Alliance for Jazz, California Music Educators Assoc., Fresno/Madera County Music Educators Assoc, and Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.
