
Joaquin Gomez is from Union City, California and has over 30 years’ percussion experience as a member, performer, instructor, drum tech at: James Logan High School, San Jose State University, The Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps., The Sacramento Freelancers Percussion Ensemble, The United States Army 91st Division Band, Oakland Military Institute, Blue Devils Entertainment, and the 191st United States Army Band.
He relocated with his employer from Concord, CA to Boise, ID in 2019 . During the fall marching band season, he has worked with Kuna HS 2019-2021, Owyhee HS in 2022 and Central Valley HS in 2023. For the indoor season he has been Rhythm Armada Independent A percussion ensemble since 2020. He is also a percussion judge with USBANDS during the fall.
Joaquin was on percussion staff from 2004 to 2018 with The Concord Blue Devils “B” and “C” Drums and Bugle Corps. The two primary feeder corps to the 21-time DCI World Champion Concord Blue Devils. During this time Blue Devils “B” was awarded the Drum Corps. International Open Class Champion five times and they were also awarded the Drum Corps International Open Class Best Percussion Performance in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016. As well as second place percussion finishes in 2008, 2015 and 2017. Blue Devils” B” holds the unprecedented record for six consecutive Best Percussion Performance awards at the DCI World Championships. Still active with Blue Devils Performing Arts, he is the treasurer for The Concord Blue Devils Alumni Association the primary fundraising and networking group associated with Blue Devils Performing Arts organization.
During the day he is employed by the Department of Defense as an Administrative Services Technician at the Boise (MEPS) Military Entrance Processing Station. In November 2023 he retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service.
