Matthew Smith performed with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps playing baritone in 2003 and 2004. During the 2006 and 2007 seasons he served on the Cascades brass staff as a low brass technician.
Matthew is currently the director of bands at Reyburn Intermediate School in Clovis CA. His responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Intermediate Band, Concert Percussion, and Winter Percussion Ensemble. He continues to produce superior ratings with his concert ensembles at CMEA and CUSD large ensemble events. Prior to his involvement at Reyburn, he taught the 2007 WBA 4A Finalist, Clovis High School Band, where he served as a music and visual instructor, also serving their feeder program Clark Intermediate School doing the same duties.
Matthew graduated from California State University, Fresno and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. His professional affiliations include the California Band Directors Association, the Fresno Madera County Music Educators Association, and the California Music Educators Association. He currently serves as a music judge for the Western Band Association (WBA).
