Born and raised in San Jose California. Attended Abraham Lincoln HS. Played trombone throughout HS and at De Anza college for a few years. Started my drum corps career in 1983 playing in the conga line of the San Jose Raiders. 1984 marched with the California Don's. 1985 through 1990 marched in the Blue Devils. Euphonium in 85, baritone 86-89, and aged out in 90 as Drum Major. Blessed beyond measure to have been taught from HS through drum corps by hall of fame legends. Too many to list.
In 1992 I was married to BD alum Therese Freitas (82,84,85), and we moved to Eugene, Oregon. I worked at Costco while training in Emergency Medicine at Lane Community College.
In 1996, I began working at Western Lane Ambulance District in Florence Oregon part-time where I had completed my internship. I was hired Full time in 1998, and I am currently a Critical Care Paramedic and Supervisor. In 2001, I started teaching at Lane CC part-time and have been teaching Paramedic practical skills for the last 15 years. I am also the program Clinical Coordinator for the program. Currently, I am a certified instructor in: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Life Support.
For the last 4 years I have also been honored and blessed to be a medical volunteer and flight leader for South Willamette Valley Honor Flight. This is a national non profit organization who's mission is transporting local WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their war memorials. Our hub has transported and honored over 400 local war time veterans in the last four years. I started and run the hubs Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SWVHF/
In 2015, I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of the new Health and Wellness team, and was asked to come a teach CPR/AED and First Aid to the BD staff. Many of whom taught or marched with me. It has been a huge honor to serve on this team and give a little back to the Blue Devil organization and family I have loved for the last 30 years.
Therese and I have two daughters, Genevieve 19 and Gyllian 16 (in 2017)...both are very much into the arts like their parents. Genevieve is passionate about stop motion 3D sculpture and special effects makeup, and Gyllian is into makeup and theater.
