Mike Ary

Mike Ary is the Director of Bands at James E. Taylor High School in Katy, TX. At Taylor, Mike conducts the Wind Ensemble and Cadet Bands, assists with the Symphonic, Concert, and JV Bands, runs the marching band, and oversees all aspects of the program. Prior to Taylor, Mike spent 10 years at Clear Brook HS in Friendswood, TX. During his 3.5 year Assistant Director and 6.5 Head Director tenure, Mike lead the band to 7 BOA Regional Finals, 3 BOA Super Regional Finals, BOA Grand Nationals Semi-Finals, WGI Guard Semi-Finals, WGI Percussion Finals, twice to the UIL State Marching Contest, and had many UIL Sweepstakes. Prior to Clear Brook, Mike taught at Elkins HS in Sugar Land, TX and at Holliday HS in Holliday, TX. At Holliday, he helped lead the band to a performance at the 2002 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Born and raised in Broken Arrow, OK, Mike has a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. In 1995 and 1996 he marched contrabass at Nite Express from Cedar Rapids, IA. In 1998 and 1999 he marched contrabass at the Colts from Dubuque, IA. From 2001-2004 he was on the Crossmen brass staff. Mike resides in Katy with his wife, Blair, and their awesome 2 year old daughter, Skylar.
