BD Performing Arts is excited to introduce Thesis, an established indoor percussion ensemble located in Northern California, as the latest addition to our family of youth programs. Thesis is the second indoor percussion group to join BDPA, alongside RCC Indoor Percussion from Southern California, which became a part of BDPA in 2014.
Thesis was founded in 2021 as an Independent World Percussion Ensemble in Saratoga, California, by Sean Clark. Sean is the Director of Percussion and Assistant Director of Bands at Saratoga High School and he is an alumni and current staff member of the Blue Devils. According to Sean, "Thesis was created to provide a unique and challenging musical experience for students in the Northern California region."
With a talented group of 50 members from the Northern California region, Thesis has a geographic advantage, situated just 60 miles away from Concord. Many of the ensemble's staff members are also instructors of Blue Devils A and B Corps, which further strengthens the ties between Thesis and BDPA programs.
BDPA's decision to include Thesis in its programs is a testament to its commitment to nurturing musical talent within the community. As Lainey Braatz, Director of Programs puts it, "Thesis embodies the spirit of innovation and excellence that defines BDPA. By welcoming this promising percussion ensemble into our family, we are not only expanding our creative horizons but also creating pathways for young musicians to follow their dreams.”
Join us in welcoming Thesis to the BDPA family!
