Musicians ages 14 to 22 are invited to audition for the 2026–27 BDWinds season, a high-level youth wind ensemble experience that brings together talented young performers who are serious about music and ready to take the next step in their artistic journey.

The BDWinds season runs August 2026 through May 2027, offering a series of focused rehearsal cycles, concerts, retreats, and collaborative performances that challenge musicians while building a strong community of dedicated performers. The season will culminate with an international performance tour to Japan in June 2027, giving students the opportunity to perform abroad, experience another culture, and represent their community through music.

Throughout the season, BDWinds musicians rehearse challenging repertoire, perform in formal concerts, collaborate with guest ensembles, and connect with other passionate young performers who share a commitment to musical excellence.

Highlights of the 2026–27 season include:

• Four Monday rehearsals during each concert cycle from August through May
• Concert collaborations with the Diablo Valley College Symphonic Band and BDWinds Junior
• A special guest ensemble performance in March 2027
• The BDWinds Summer Kick-Off Concert on May 16
• An international performance tour to Japan in June 2027

Rehearsals take place Monday afternoons in the East Bay, currently at Valley View Middle School in Pleasant Hill. Because the ensemble meets weekly throughout the season, musicians must be local to the East Bay from August through May. Participants may join for the full season or select concert cycles that best fit their schedules. Fundraising and scholarship support are available to help make participation possible.

How to Audition

Students interested in joining BDWinds can apply by registering through the audition portal. After registering, applicants will receive a confirmation email and their audition packet. Musicians will prepare the required excerpts, record their audition video, and submit their materials online according to the provided instructions.

To be considered for the full 2026–27 season, audition materials must be submitted no later than Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Video submissions for the 2026–27 season will continue to be accepted through April 5, 2027 for remaining openings. If you discover the audition page after that date, please apply through the 2027–28 season audition portal.
