On Monday October 31, Frank Troyka, Director of Education, conducted the inaugural concert band workshop presented by System Blue. Hosted by Davis Lesser, Director of Bands at the Clovis North Educational Center, the workshop included three professional development sessions. About 30 directors attended in total, and Frank presented two modules applicable to concert band and one module applicable to band, orchestra, and choir. The workshops detailed assessment and ensemble technique, as well as a comprehensive presentation on developing intonation awareness in young musicians.
System Blue is prepared to offer professional development workshops on fundamental woodwind, brass, and concert percussion pedagogy; concert band rehearsal techniques; establishing a private lesson program; recruitment and retention; as well as student leadership mentorship for marching and concert band.
