Blue Devils Battery Auditions – Video Submission

Please note, there are no refunds on audition fees.

Video auditions are accepted until December 15, 2021.

To submit your video(s):

  1. Create an unlisted video on YouTube for us to review. You can submit up to three videos. See the specific requirements below.
  2. Once you have your audition video(s) prepared and uploaded, sign into your account, click on "Audition Info", and submit the url(s) of your videos.

VISUAL

Create an unlisted (not public or private) YouTube video (or multiple videos) for us to review. This video (or videos) should include all of the required material listed below. Please feel free to contact Jaime Holly with any visual questions.

You will have two videos to submit for the visual portion of your audition. The first will demonstrate marching skills and the second will be a body phrase. Watch the attached videos for examples and information on each of the two required videos.


Marching Video

  • Submit 1 video containing all content in order. (edited or continuous)
  • Perform all required content fully in frame.
  • Your full body should be visible at all times.
  • Camera in Landscape. Preferably elevated off the ground.
  • Use an audible metronome that can be heard in the video.
  • In the demonstration video, Zach adds recommended arm motions and some body between reps. Do your best to add this to your video.
  • In the demonstration video, Zach does slides when going left or right. You should replace every slide with a crab step as you typically would with a drum on.

REQUIRED CONTENT

  • Running cartwheel
  • Skips
  • Running X-jump
  • Backward Rond de Jambe runs
  • Move 12, Halt 4, Forward: 90bpm
  • Move 12, Halt 4, Backward: 90bpm
  • Move 12, Halt 4, Forward: 180bpm
  • Move 12, Halt 4, Backward: 180bpm
  • Halftime to Singletime. Forward 90-180bpm
  • Halftime to Singletime. Backward: 90-180bpm
  • Zig-Zags, Standard crab step: 90bpm
  • Zig-Zags, Opposite crab step: 90bpm (trailing leg goes behind the lead foot)
  • Zig-Zags, Standard crab step: 180bpm
  • Zig-Zags, Opposite crab step: 180bpm (training leg goes behind the lead leg)
  • Step size changes. 16 at 16to5, 8 at 8to5, 12 at 4to5: 180bpm
  • BOX drill with music. forward 8, right 8, back 8, left 8

Body Video

  • Submit 1 video containing 2 reps of the choreography
  • Perform all required content fully in frame.
  • Your full body should be visible at all times.
  • Camera in Landscape. Preferably elevated off the ground.
  • Use an audible metronome that can be heard in the video

REQUIRED CONTENT

  • Six 8 count phrases
  • Connect phrases to make one 48 count phrase. 1 rep = 48 count
  • Preform and record 2 reps of the choreography
