Bill Reddie's "Channel One Suite" (the Buddy Rich Big Band's recording) was the source of the Blue Devils' first championship off-the-line. Two of Chuck Mangione favorites, "Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor" and "Chase the Clouds Away" concluded the 1976 program, with which the corps not only took first place with the highest recorded total score, but also achieved a clean sweep by winning all captions in the Philadelphia championships.
