For the Blue Devils, 1994 is already one of those great years. The corps has had enough success over the past two decades to know for certain when they are on the threshold of a great season... and this one certainly is.

My Spanish Heart!! Spanish Fantasy!! Chick Corea!! The music and the artist most closely associated with some of the most exciting years of the Blue Devils. This years' show entitled "My Spanish Heart" is entirely from Chick Corea's work. Selections include "Spanish Fantasy" -- the opening selection that establishes from the first step, that this show is one from the heart -- Passionate...Emotional...Sensual...and Powerful.

The introduction explodes into "Night Streets" -- a fiery celebration of rhythm and dance. Elements of samba, merengue, guajeo, and flamenco are explored through out this hip, syncopated piece, which foreshadowed the current trends in Fusion, Latin Jazz. The intricacy and expression of the brass statements demonstrate the virtuosity that has become the signature of the 12 time DCI Champion Brass Ensemble.

The rapid- fire "Day Danse", with strong percussive emphasis, will feature intricate orchestrations demonstrating the clarity and technique of the past, combined with the creativity and innovation of today's percussion section. The authentic penetrating flamenco sound will play a prominent part of this whimsical piece.

The title cut "My Spanish Heart"... the ultimate love ballad... features the superb haunting solos, that have become a Blue Devil trademark, as they communicate some of the most unforgettable moments of the '94 Show. It's the perfect tune for the color guard that has become the standard in expressive and emotional performance. (Remember "When a Man Loves A Woman?...)
